Drivers Poem

It is nice to read things from different people point of view, below you can read two poems that were written by Ray Clare who drove the aid to Romania during the Easter 2001 Aid Trip.

A lump in your throat
A heavy heart
Unbelievable sorrow
When we have to part

We’ve only known them for a few days
But grown so close in so many ways
They ooze love, they ooze affection
Why must they suffer such rejection?

Their eyes say hold my hand, hold me tight
Please help make things right
A little help and a little love surely you can spare
Our tears flow freely; you should have been there

Soap and shoes do soften their plight
But who will hold them on those long cold nights
Once a year they feel a week of love
Hardly sufficient for a child to have

Don’t worry young ones we’ll be there soon
It really won’t come too soon
For just another week of broken hearts and sadness
All brought on by Romanian madness

And So We Depart Beius

Oceans of tears fell today
There was sadness all around
They'll be alone another year
You could hardly hear a sound

The playing stopped, faces fell
They held us oh so near
Their affection we cherish, boys and girls
Here comes another tear

We can't explain why we care
You have to go and see
Children who have nothing
Who only want to be like you and me

A cuddly toy, a plastic car
That's all they really ask
A little love, a hug here and there
It's not such a very hard task

The children line the entrance
From where we must depart
Buckets of tears are falling and cries of no no
Is all that could be heard

The street kids are especially needy
Little food money or hope
They ask for help, we don't think they're greedy
For the basic essential to cope

Minus 20 on winter nights
In doorways they have to endure
No heat no food or electric lights
They are unbelievably poor

We're glad we went again this year
To help the poor in need
We've got to go again next year
There are still more mouths to feed

We vow to return again next year
To see them once again
To cheer them up, take them aid
And help relieve their pain

So were on our way at last
Our families await us from afar
Our thoughts return to the week past
Kindness, love and little faces with broken hearts
